A couple of gamers coughed up the balls to sue Electronic Arts (EA) for their purchase of the NFL license amongst others. Personally I think they’re out of their minds, but I do support their beliefs. There are a lot of opinions on EA and their business practices. In defense of their actions, and trust me I am in no way a fan of theirs, it is a business and they saw an opportunity to make a buck.
The two individuals who are suing EA do have a valid point in saying that they have monopolized the genre of football games. Granted, anyone can still go and make a football game called "Super Football" or whatever else they want to call it, but they can’t use any real players. Now let’s be serious, the chances of you, me, or anyone else buying it is slim to none.
I wish them all the luck in the world but its one hell of an uphill battle for sure.
As a side note I would like to see some blame go towards the NFL, NCAA, and the AFL. After all - they did award it to EA.
